I was never really a wildlife photographer but in my travels to scenic places in America I would often come across elk and moose and all kinds of birds. So I took pictures of it all when I could. My wife was actually the real wildlife photographer of the family. She was much more attracted by wildlife than by scenery. So, she shot most of our wildlife images. Anyway, here are a few pictures of wildlife.

Most of the wildlife that I have pictures of were just there when I went out to shoot some landscape or another. However, one kind of wildlife that my wife and set out to photograph deliberately were the elk in Rocky Mountain National Park. One of my fondest memories of my time as an outdoor photographer was getting up at four or five in the morning and going out to the big meadows in the fall when the elk begin to bugle. I remember many foggy, misty mornings of stumbling thru cold, wet, waist deep grass and then suddenly seeing these wonderful beasts emerging from the fog a few feet in front of us. It was a really powerful experience.
