What a strange world we now live in. On the one hand I see so much beauty, some created by humans and some natural. On the other hand, there is so much strange, ugly, stupid, cruel stuff out there. It’s hard to make sense of it all.
Northern Ireland during the troubles
Here is another picture of Northern Ireland from the same period. There is a lot of evidence that many of the kids that grew up in this period were damaged for life.
One of my favorite painting of The Tetons. I’ve lost the name of the painter. Sorry.
Australia during the current 2019-2020 fire. I keep reading that 500 million animals died in just one state of Australia during just one period of this fire. This seems unbelievable to me. So I keep checking this number but it seems to be real. The Australian fires are far bigger that the US wildfires this year or last year. I think this is something really new and really scary.
Evening in Grand Canyon, Arizona
Water is running out in many Indian towns. These guys are just a few of the millions who are carting clean water home daily in small jugs. What happens when there is not more clean water to truck in.

Because of the huge run off of fertilizer from European farms, beaches on the Baltic sea are covered with tons of Green Algae for miles and miles. And besides this, thousands of square miles of the Baltic Sea are completely dead.
Mesa Arch in Canyonlands National Park Utah. Every dawn, during three or four winter months, the dawn light hits the cliffs below the arch and bounces up into the arch and turns the inside a bright orange. It’s pretty magical.
Under the presidency of Donald Trump the oil industry in America is looking forward to another bonanza year. And this in spite of the clear evidence that every year we are coming closed and closed to destroying the earth for everyone, forever. What a strange world we now live in.

Smog in Delhi India. Bill McKibben says that “half the children in New Delhi have irreversible lung damage simply from breathing the air.”
Wildflowers in Alaska

Truly, What a strange world we now live in.
